Saablime is an online magazine about Saab automobiles. Our goal is to provide a unique perspective that helps present the excitement and passion inspired by our favorite car brand.
Who are we? It’s just me, Kurt Hoffmann. A die-hard Saab fan. I grew up in the 80s when Saabs were THE car to have during my high school years where I lived in St. Louis, Missouri. Later, starting in 1985, the 900s and especially the SPG were even more coveted where I went to college in Colorado.
As a former bike racer, I remember my first experience with the old Saabs from the 60s and 70s when I’d go on long training rides high up into the mountains of Colorado where they seemed to be everywhere. That left an impression for sure.
However it wasn’t until 2000 when I finally got it together to buy my first Saab: a beautiful blue on gray, 1993 Saab 900 Turbo convertible. Shortly thereafter I added a 1982 900 4 door, which although very simple and not too fast remains one of my favorites.
Since then I’ve owned:
- 2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen
- 1978 Saab 99 Turbo
- 1988 Saab SPG
The purchase of the 99 Turbo prompted me to develop the Saab 99 Turbo Registry (www.Saab99Turbo.com) in April 2007.
While the Saab 99 Turbo will always remain one of my favorites, my passion for Saabs has many levels and nuances. I started Saablime to give me an outlet for my broader interest in all Saabs, the Saab company, and the many incredible Saab owners out there.
